Is this really free?

Yes. The Free plan is permanent, not a trial. No credit card required, no expiration date. If your community has 50 properties or fewer and up to 100 users, you can use it indefinitely with Herald AI Chat, Pet Protect, in-app messaging, document storage with AI indexing, amenity bookings, mobile app, and more. We built a generous free plan because the founder believes every HOA should be able to run their community without paying for software.

Is there a contract?

No contracts. No cancellation fees. No annual commitments. All paid plans are billed monthly. Cancel anytime from your dashboard with one click. We earn your business every month.

What payment methods do you accept for subscriptions?

Subscription billing is handled through Stripe. We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). Your board can pay with a community credit card or a board member's card. Invoices and receipts are available in your dashboard for reimbursement.

Can I switch plans?

Yes. Upgrade from Free to Automate at any time, and all your data carries over seamlessly. No migration process, no setup fee, no downtime. Downgrade back to Free whenever you want, with no cancellation penalties. Your data is always preserved.

What happens if I exceed my property limit?

The Free plan supports up to 50 properties. If your community grows beyond that, you can upgrade to Herald Automate, which uses a tiered pricing model: $49/month for up to 105 properties, $99/month for up to 205 properties, and $150/month for up to 300 properties. We'll notify you when you're approaching the limit so there are no surprises.

Are there any hidden fees?

No hidden fees. Resident payments carry a convenience fee: 4% + $0.30 per credit card transaction, or 2% per ACH transaction. This single fee covers all payment processing. Your HOA can choose to pass this fee to residents (so the HOA nets the full dues or rental amount) or absorb it. Beyond that, the only additional costs are optional usage-based services: Twilio SMS and PostGrid physical mail. There are no setup charges, no per-unit pricing, and no surprise invoices.

Do you offer annual billing or discounts?

HomeHerald currently bills monthly. We do not require annual contracts. This gives you maximum flexibility to cancel, downgrade, or upgrade at any time without being locked in.

Is there a setup fee?

No. No setup fee, no onboarding fee, and no implementation charge on any plan. Our AI-powered setup wizard reads your existing documents and configures your community automatically. Most communities are live in under 15 minutes.
