Herald lines for management companies

A management company on HomeHerald can run its own Herald phone lines and choose which communities answer on each one. $5 to set up a line, no monthly cost, up to five lines.

Every community on HomeHerald has a Herald line: the number residents call or text to reach Herald. A management company can decide which number each of its communities uses.

The three kinds of line

  • HomeHerald’s shared line. Every community starts here. It works from day one and costs nothing.
  • A community’s own number. A local number that belongs to one community. Give a community its own number from its card in the Portfolio: open the community and choose Herald line.
  • A company line. A number your company owns and shares across several of your communities: one line for your whole book, one per region, or however you like to work.

A community is on exactly one line at a time.

Where company lines live

In the Portfolio, open Partner and choose Herald lines. Each line shows its name, its number (with a copy button), who set it up and when, whether texting is live yet, and the communities on it. The Shared HomeHerald line card at the bottom lists the communities on no company line.

Everyone on your team can see this page. Your company’s Admin and Billing members buy, name, assign and release lines; Members see everything and change nothing.

Buy a line

  1. Choose Buy a line.
  2. Enter the area code you want and choose Find numbers. Searching is free.
  3. Pick a number and give the line a name, like “Main office” or “Gulf Coast”.
  4. Choose Buy this line.

A company line is a one-time $5 on your company’s next HomeHerald invoice, with no monthly cost. While none of your communities is on your bill yet (every one is still on its trial), there is no charge. Your company can run up to five lines; when you reach the limit the button says so.

New numbers take calls right away. Texting starts once carrier registration completes, typically a few days; Herald answers texts on the shared line until then.

Put communities on a line

On the line’s card, choose Add communities, tick the communities you want, and choose Add to this line. To move a community from one of your lines to another, add it to the new line: it leaves the old one in the same step. To take a community off a line, press the × on its name; it goes back to HomeHerald’s shared line.

If a community already has its own number, the list says so. Moving it onto a company line holds its own number for 30 days, and you can bring the number back from the community’s Herald line card before then at no charge. The board is told about every change.

You can do the same from a single community: open it in the Portfolio, choose Herald line, and use Put on a company line, Move to another line or Take off the company line.

Only communities your company runs and bills can go on a company line. A community whose board invited you, and pays its own HomeHerald bill, keeps the line its board chose.

What the board sees

The board sees which line its community answers on and the number, in Herald Voice, with a note that your company manages the line. The board cannot change a company line; they ask you.

Release a line

Choose Release this line at the bottom of its card. The confirmation names every community on it; they all go back to HomeHerald’s shared line. The number is held for 30 days, and Bring it back returns it at no charge until then. It comes back with no communities on it; add them again. After 30 days the number goes back to the carrier.
