Plan and billing
HomeHerald has three plans - Automate, Automate+ and Custom - and prices are set by how many properties you manage. A 14-day free trial with no card on the self-serve plans, monthly billing, cancel anytime.
Last updated August 12, 2026
HomeHerald has three plans. Prices are set by how many properties your community has, never per unit.
The three plans
| Community size | Automate | Automate+ |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 105 properties | $49 / month | $65 / month |
| Up to 205 properties | $99 / month | $125 / month |
| Up to 400 properties | $199 / month | $250 / month |
Custom has no published price. It covers communities larger than 400 properties and boards running more than one community. Get in touch through the pricing page and we’ll work out the right number.
What Automate includes
Automate is the entire platform for one community. There is no starter tier underneath it:
- Herald Shield - automated violation handling, escalation, and AI violation letters
- Herald Chat and Herald Dispatch
- Herald Welcome, including automatic listing detection
- Dues Chaser, autopay, and automatic late fees
- Books & Banking - Profit & Loss, AR Aging, AP Aging, bank reconciliation, budget vs. actual, AI receipt logging
- Email integration and the unified inbox
- All payment methods (Stripe cards and ACH, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo)
- Amenity booking with deposits and smart locks, voting, events, documents, the directory, and the resident portal
- Work orders, vendors, insurance, and contracts
- Email blasts, text notifications, and certified mail
- Automatic backups and Herald Support
What Automate+ adds
Automate+ is everything above, plus Herald Phone:
- Herald answers your community’s phone, 24 hours a day
- Your community’s own local phone number, included at no extra charge
- Residents text with Herald - real conversations, not auto-replies
- A community website
- Included voice minutes each month: 500 up to 105 properties, 1,000 up to 205, 2,000 up to 400
Go over your minutes and Herald keeps answering at 12 cents a minute, capped at your plan’s monthly price. Minutes reset at the start of every month.
What Custom adds
- Communities larger than 400 properties
- Unlimited communities under one account
- White-glove migration and implementation
- Priority Herald Support
The free trial, in two stages
Stage one - 14 days free, no credit card. Every new community starts with a 14-day free trial that includes the full Automate plan. There is no card to enter and nothing to cancel. When the 14 days are up, nothing is charged - your community and everything in it stays exactly where it is, and you can pick back up whenever you add a card.
Stage two - a full 30 days free once you add a card. Adding a card at any point, during those 14 days or after they end, starts a fresh 30-day free trial on whichever plan you pick. Adding a card early never costs you any of the 30 days, so a community that waits until the preview ends can have up to 44 free days in total.
Automate+ requires a card, because it provisions a real phone line and your community’s own local number. Automate does not.
Nothing is charged until the 30-day card trial ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing at all. At the end of that trial, the card on file is charged the monthly rate for your plan and community size, and billing continues monthly from there.
If your community was created before the pricing change
Nothing changes for you. Communities created before this pricing change keep the plan they are on today. You are grandfathered - you will not be moved onto a different plan, and you keep using HomeHerald exactly as you do now.
If you’re on an early-adopter (Founder) rate, that rate is likewise honored for as long as you stay subscribed. If you cancel and re-subscribe later, you’ll be on current pricing.
Billing terms
- Billed monthly
- No annual contracts
- No setup fees
- Cancel anytime
What costs extra
The subscription covers the software. A few things are genuine pass-through costs and are billed on top:
| Add-on | Cost |
|---|---|
| Physical and certified USPS mail | $1.50 - $3.00 per letter, depending on mail class |
| Resident payment convenience fee | 4% + $0.30 per card payment, 2% per ACH payment |
| Outbound text notifications | $0.0079 each |
| Voice minutes past your Automate+ pool | $0.12 per minute, capped at your plan price |
| Changing your Automate+ phone number | $5 one-time, with one free swap in your first 7 days |
Your community’s own local number on Automate+ is included - there is no setup or provisioning charge for it. The $5 applies only if you change that number later, and your first swap within 7 days of activating it is free.
Resident convenience fees are between the resident and the payment processor - they don’t appear on your HomeHerald bill. See Payment methods overview for the full fee breakdown.
Where to view your current plan
My Herald Account
You’ll see:
- Your current plan and price point
- Property count (toward your size tier)
- Billing details and the card on file
Changing plans as you grow
Price points are based on property count, so growth is the only thing that moves you between size bands. If your property count crosses into the next band, you’ll get a notice before anything changes on your bill. Nothing about the product changes. Moving between Automate and Automate+ is a separate choice, and it’s the only thing that changes what’s in the product.
Update the card on file under My Herald Account → Billing.
If a payment fails
The system retries automatically and shows a payment banner in the app. If billing isn’t brought current, the community eventually loses access until it is. Your data is preserved throughout - update the card and everything comes back.
Common situations
”We’re a management company running several communities”
Get in touch through the pricing page. Multi-community setups are handled as a conversation rather than a self-serve tier.
”We’re a non-profit - do we get a discount?”
Most HOAs aren’t 501(c)(3) non-profits. If yours has tax-exempt status, contact support for any pricing flexibility.
”We need a W-9”
Email support@homeherald.ai. They’ll send the vendor info your accountant needs.
”Do we lose anything if we stay on the smallest size?”
No. Automate at $49 is the same software as Automate at $199. The only difference is how many properties it covers. The one thing that changes what’s in the product is Automate vs. Automate+, and that’s the phone line, resident texting, and the community website.
